WORDS I WOULD USE TO DESCRIBE IT:

soul filling, smooth, to be felt deeply, advanced ancient civilization sea spire, i have to jump and shake, profoundly spiritual, smokey, and lush jungle magic

THOUGHTS ON THE ALBUM CONCEPTUALLY:

this album is the embodiment of a LUSH piece of music. yknow? the instrumentals are so full and feel like you're going through a jungle pulling back layers and layers of leaves to get to the hidden oasis at the center. i think that conceptually the album converys a mellow and smokey-jungle feeling. it's perfect to sit and relax to, or maybe to sit and think, to take a little nap, or maybe smoke idk.

the tracks provide a perfect blend of funkiness with profound lyrics that make you think about your place here as a human and artistic expression. it explores poverty, struggles to express one's self, and the turmoil of legacy and inaction.

FAVORITE TRACKS:

DEFINETLY a no skip album. like literally not one skip (maybe in love with you but that's neither here nor there...). that being said if i HAD to choose... ...& on, didn't cha know, booty, kiss me on my neck, and oh my GOD the opening to green eyes with the little billie holiday influence. perfect.

again, i cannot mention enough how much this album is no skips. i think the ideal way to listen to any track off of the album is to listen to the entire album and let the songs flow into eachother. they thrive off of the context of their placement within the album. not to mention, yeah the songs BLEED INTO EACHOTHER! oh my god she's a genius! didn't cha know took my badu virginity and i slept to that song so many times and it led me to do a deep dive into her as an artist and im so glad i did. she created a masterpiece here and i hope to rate baduism later on.

OVERALL SCORE:

/ 5/5 little snails
